Arthroscopic Surgery

A minimally invasive procedure allowing doctors to diagnose and sometimes treat joint issues through small incisions in the skin. During the procedure, a thin fiberoptic magnifying lens and tiny camera are inserted into the problem area, allowing the doctor to see the joint in great detail.

Based on the diagnosis, some problems including some sports injuries can be treated using this approach or with a combination of arthroscopic and "open" surgery. Other potentially treatable injuries include torn cartilage, carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff tears, or cartilage damage.

Arthroscopy treatment is not appropriate in every case. Your doctor will discuss the options that are best for you.
